The North Shore Children’s Choir
is a community choir for children aged 9 - 12 years (Years 5 - 8).
We sing many different styles of songs from
Early Music through to the Twentieth Century (including songs from movies and
musicals). We aim to introduce the children to a variety of styles while helping
them to learn correct singing and breathing techniques.
The choir perform many times throughout the year as they
develop together as a group. From introductory concerts in simple venues such as
local retirement homes through to large scale concerts such as the Bruce Mason
centre, each child in the choir has the opportunity to perform in many different
environments.
Rehearsals are taken by the musical director,
Mrs Vanessa Kay, every Wednesday. These rehearsals are often broken down into intensive
sectionals, voice matching, singing techniques, breathing techniques, sightsinging, basic musical knowledge and ensemble awareness. With
Vanessa''s knowledge of teaching and music, she combines all these skills into a fun
and enjoyable atmosphere.
